When Vince wasn't coaching Hockey, he served as an anesthesiologist and a critical care physician for Henry Ford Hospital. Throughout the pandemic, Vince helped countless COVID patients return to their families. As fate would have it, COVID has taken him from his family and the hockey community. The Vincent Alfonzo Sceglio (VAS) Hockey Foundation was established to carry on the legacy that Coach Vince established over his 15 years of coaching hockey. Throughout his years of coaching, Vince was driven to share his passion for hockey with his own children, his players, and anyone else who was willing to listen. The vision of the VAS Foundation is to continue Vince’s giving spirit to the hockey community. For example, Vince was known for paying for extra pads of ice for his team, volunteering countless hours of his time to coaching, picking up after practice meals for his teams, purchasing training equipment, and setting up training camps for players to get additional practice. The VAS Foundation will donate 100% of its donations back to the hockey community, by making donations to team’s ice bills, hockey uniforms, warm-ups, practice equipment, and sponsorship of hockey camps. This will be done to make the sport of hockey more affordable to anyone who wants to learn and play the game of hockey. One of Vince’s goals becomes the last goal of the VAS Hockey Foundation, which would be to raise enough money to set up an annual ice hockey camp of its very own. You can help us continue to carry on Vince’s generosity to the hockey community by making a donation today.
